Listen to Your Voice of Reason During Tax Season

Like it or not, it's that time of the year again: tax season, also known as a cyber criminal's holy grail. This article covers some things you can do to protect yourself from tax scams.

Your tax data is a gold mine for cyber criminals!

Many scams and frauds attempt to imitate government services to gain access to your personal and financial information. A reminder the CRA will never: 

    1. demand immediate payment by e-transfer, cryptocurrency, prepaid credit cards or gift cards
    2. threaten you with arrest, deportation or police action.
    3. leave voicemails including personal or financial information.
    4. email or text you a link to your refund.

In addition, use strong passwords for your tax accounts and be cautious before clicking links.
